I have thought of a name for no-name my wildtype/melanoid axie. It's Parker because he's a nosy parker!

When he's in the salt bath on the kitchen worktop he's constantly looking around, he sticks his head up out the water to get a better look!

Yeah, OK perhaps this is him trying to get out the salt bath, but he doesn't do it in a frantic 'get me outta here' way, just a chilled 'I'm checkin you out while you're checking me out' kind of thing. Well if I'm anthromorphasising (or whatever the word is where you attribute human qualities to animals), then just humour me, OK? :)

He has a bacterial infection on his toes, so on Rayson's advice I am salt bathing him daily. I think he's getting quite used to it now, he's not one of those frantic, thrash about kind of axies when he's picked up, so it makes the process a whole lot easier.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
