How long should the morphing process take?

I was wondering what the usual amount of time the morphing process would take? just so i dont get worried that might be it taking to long and start to think something is wrong. i have a tiger larva about 7 1/2 inches long.
 
The morphing process itself shouldn't take much longer than a week or two, however, larvae often take 3-4 or more months until they reach that point.
 
Many factors play a part in morphing. Water tempurature, water level and species. The colder the temps and a good diet a larval tiger will have a better chance of staying larval longer. Stressfull situations or circumstances that don't accomadate larval Tigers will make them morph faster. 1-2 weeks is about right when they 1st start morphing. The 1st sign of morphing will be protruding of the eyes and diminishing gills.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
