Hello, my name is scott and I have kept animals of all types my entire life (mostly herps). I currently have a small very cool community of Lesser Sirens ( who I am tryin to breed when they all become adults), I have a large community of pacific chorus frogs who breed and I release all the baby froglets back to the wild ( I also selectively breed these guys cause all the color, spot and stripe variations interest me alot, I like the spotted variation), I also have a few dicamptodons that are all housed seperately now LOL ( one of which is acting very funny and I think it is morphing to terrestrial and I am video documenting this with checks every couple hours). I also have a very large neotenic? dicamptodon I have had for years his name is fred. I caught him with 20 lb test on a river on the oregon coast fishin for cutties. He swallowed the lure and was really injured and I nursed him back and jus decided to keep him he is my friend now.

Hi Scott and welcome to the Forum!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
