I`m really starting to wonder about my sal, hes not really the brightest. Hes constantly climbing the aquarium glass and now hes giving crickets rides on his head. He snapped at it once but it jumped on his head and crawled around on his head for over an hour. He wandered around in his home and i swear ended up sulking in the corner till it finally jumped off. He still hasn`t caught it! Even when i tangled it in front of him he missed. *sigh* Hes definitely not much of a hunter. I wonder if this qualifies as one of those FAIL posters that plague the internet.:p

This was the first time this happened, their are no marks on his head and hes not acting any more unusual than usual.

 great pictures.

I found my tiger sal sucks at catching the worms in his mouth wen I dangle them in front of him, I usually have to put an end of the worm right to his mouth almost

on a side note crickets are kind of fast for salamanders...my opinion atleast

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
