Hi.

Few days ago, I checked my axis over the long haul.
The black axie looked quite exhausted, not like ordinary times.

I immediately isolated him because I thought he was attacked by other axis.
Despite he was isolated, he became thin and thin and finally lost his appetite.
I've tried Fridging for 2 days, but that seems not to very effective.....

To make matters worse, his one leg was broken which makes him move hard...

What should I do? Salt bath?
I don't want him to die from mysterious symptom...

PS
I'm sorry, my english structure is pretty poor.

I am very sorry to say that euthanasia is a valid option for this axie. It is very unlikely to be able to pull through.

If you want to do everything you can, you will need to bring it to a vet immediately to get fluid, glucose and electrolyte support. The injuries are very prone to infection so a course of antibiotics will be needed.

For all axies, you will need to fridge a minimum of 3 weeks for any severe illness. Any period less than 3 weeks is very minimally effective. The body takes 3 weeks for specific antibodies to be produced (IgG) that can help defend against pathogens.

OMG- please follow Raysons advice and PLEASE make a decision either way quickly! The poor thing must be in unbelieveable pain.

I just saw this post, being only a year or so old into the Axolotal world i was absolutely horrified by this picture and situation!!! Seriously what has happened to this poor creature to get so bad??? Is there anyway an axie can get this thin over 2 days? I mean my little guy hasnt eaten for 2 weeks and he has not lost any weight what so ever, he is still looking really healthy, just a little stressed - i am fridging him tonight....

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
