Hello,

My name is Sarah I had 2 Axolotls for about 5 years as a child, and when we had to move, my parents made me give them away. My neighbor was a breeder for pet stores. For the last few years I've wanted to get another one. I think they're awesome, and I still miss my beloved ax babies! I've been searching for a place to buy eggs, but so far have turned up empty handed! I searched the forums, but it seems to be a hard feat! Any suggestions about where I should be looking?

Thanks so much for your help!!

Welcome to the forum Sarah. This time of the year seems to be almost like an 'off season' for axolotls to breed. Give it about 2 more months and you should start seeing ads again in the for sale section here.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
