I have a problem.

I have had Spaz for about 7 weeks now. She was quite active at first, and settled in within a few days. She was eating every other day. Then about four weeks ago, she had some fungus on her gills, salted her, it went away. Two weeks ago she stopped eating entirely and began shedding, and the fungus came back. She has been in salt baths twice a day for one week, and once a day for the past few days. The fungus is gone, her gills are sad and shabby, and she seems to done shedding. But I can not get her to eat. The most interest she shows is nudging the food with her nose, and then swimming away, we've tried worms, and beef heart. However what I am most worried about is not her lack of appetite since she has been being fridged and salted, but what has been coming out of her every 2-3 days.
This is the 4th time I have seen this come out of her.
Thank you in advance for advice.

I think that is normal for an axo that has not been eating for 2 weeks. There are still traces of material (or digestive juices) in the intestines, and these come out as poo, but it's almost transparent as there just isn't much there.

The only think I can suggest is to just keep trying to get her to eat. Maybe try other types of worms, bloodworms, etc. Good luck!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
