Can anyone explain to me the best method for sexing these guys. I am pretty sure I have 2 females. I know for fact that one is a female 100%. But I am thrown in a loop on the other one all tho they both look the same. I think I may need to look for a Adult male.

They're not the easiest species to sex. Adult females in good condition are heavier-bodied than the males. males cloaca is also more swollen than the females while breeding, but I personally don't find this completely reliable in this species. Also, females lay eggs, males display and "fan" at the females ;-)

Thank you. My Female is alot more chunky and built bigger than the other. I think I have a pair. I will try to get pictures when I can.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
