Gday, I am new to this forum and also to axolotl keeping. I have had my 3 babies now for 2 weeks today, and I am totally in love with them, I had had them a week and they laideggs already which I am on here now on the hunt for info regarding raising the babies/fry? I have had 2 hatch today already and I need asw much info as possible on what to feed them etc. I have hatched out some BBS and managed to separate sometoday and give them to the baby axo's but I don't think they are interested. Hopefully somebody can shed some lighton this for me.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
