Hello. Just looking for some advice re my rather glum axolotl.
For the last couple of days he has been very stationary outside of his usual hiding place in a plastic log. His tail is turned over to the right and his gills are incredibly bright red. He's been off his food as well, whereas normally he's ravenous at all times, even when full of wax worms. I prodded him last night and he shuttled around his tank like a wild thing and I noticed that there was a white spot on his head, just above his left eye. He didn't seem to be using his front legs either, kinda like they were paralysed, although that may just be an over-observation on my part. The white spot looked more like an abrasion or bump than a fungus.
Any ideas? What can I do for him? His tank is clean, I've removed some dying plants, there is a small pump that provides a gentle flow of water, I rarely put the lamp on. Where am I going wrong?
I usually feed him frozen bloodworm, occasional wax worms.
Thanks
Steve
