Hey guys, im fairly new to this, well new to keeping juveniles/babies ne way. I had two babies, one has died already and the second is about to die. It has a fungas growing on its back but it hasnt yet affected its gills.
Since monday (5 days ago) i have been fridging him and giving 2x salt baths with sea salt for 10 mins at a time with 2 teaspoons of salt.
His condition is deteriorating rapidly, and i dont know what more i can do for him since the white fluffy fungas isnt coming off!
I am very worried about it, its long beautiful gills are curled forward and he hasnt eaten the last two days (i guess due to the fridging)
is there anything more i can do to help it?

any help would be appreciated. Sarah.

Have you checked water temperature and parameters? Usually there is some underlying unresolved problem.

Nutrition wise, try plenty of blackworms. The are good 'recovery' food.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
