Yeah, about to get my first ever one. I've picked out the tank, a reasonably sized one for £30-£40.
I've picked the suppliers for my axelotl.
(I will buy buying the white one - not the imperfect one).
I'm also buying an Axelotl care guide from that site.
However, I have been asking around and I have been told that the experience in these boards is unrivalled by any care guide - so, any tips?
I'm thinking for my tank, I'll have some nice pebble flooring, a flat slate stone in the middle, a little cave for him to hide in, a filter, some nice oxygen-giving plants (or should I get plastic ones?).
Also, what do you recommend for food?
Any and all tips welcome, even if they are completely irrelevant!

Oh, and are there any better places to buy babies from in the UK - this one wants to charge me £15 for the axie, and £20-£30 for the delivery!

Hi Harry,

You may wish to check the advertisements section of the board (located by scrolling down to the bottom of the main page).

Axolotl caresheets can be found here - and better yet - they are completely free! ;)

Welcome to the site.

Thank you very much for the quick (and very helpful!) response!

Hi Harry,
I have some Juvenile leucistic axolotls for sale, at £12 each or 2 for £20, looking for good homes.
I live in derby, they're collection only so you wouldn't have to worry about postage costs, but depends on how close you live i suppose.
Cheers
Alice

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
