I have recently started raising 2 younger Slimy Salamanders (P. Glutinosus), they are both about 2.5-3 inches long and was wondering what the best food would be for them? I did get meal worms at the pet store yesterday, and they don't seem too interested. Any suggestions?

Worm chunks, fruit flies, pinhead crickets, and isopods (pillbugs) are all readily accepted by slimy's of this size. However, if you go the route of fruit flies and/or pinhead crickets then they will need to be gut-loaded and dusted with calcium prior to feeding them to your salamanders. Worms bits are by far the easiest and most beneficial way to go though.

I was planning on going the route of night crawler pieces, but they didn't have any at the pet store, looks like I may be stopping off at the bait shop, or even raising my own. :DThank you, I appreciate the quick reply!

I cut my worms to where they are no wider than the salamanders head.

A fogger in my opinion is a waste of money, these salamanaders would only probably need to be misted every 2-3 days depending on how much ventilation they have. I've never used this particular model but by the looks of how it's designed it elimantes the electrocution factor that plagues most other ultrasonic foggers, so with that being said I don't see what it would hurt to use it either.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
