Hi Everyone! I'm so excited to be part of this group!
I ran across it while looking up information on Axolotl, and found it to be VERY helpful!
I've never really raised aquatic animals, but have always been interested.
I raised Bearded Dragons (Pogona Vitticeps) a few years back; however, I'm looking in a different direction.
I'm working on getting my aquarium together and ready for residents, then I'll be looking for my first Axolotls! I just want to make sure everything is perfect first.
I'm a Wildlife and Conservation Biology major at Southeast Missouri State University, in which reptiles and amphibians are my study of interest...
Why not surround yourself in what you LOVE?
I'll also be looking into raising my own for for my children..
So, if anyone has any advice, FEEL FREE to throw it my way!
Thanks again for having me!!!

~Tiffanie

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
