Welcome to the forum. You can either place an ad in the wanted section or keep an eye out in the for sale section.

Welcome to the Newt and Salamander Portal! You're in luck-axotols are without doubt the most common salamander kept and bred by the people on this website. There have been numerous sales posts about axolotls over the time I've been on this forum, and you can even acquire Axolotl eggs from breeders on this forum.

You're in luck! Pets on Broadway in NE Portland sells axolotls. They're grown already (7-8 inches) and the store doesn't really know the types so they sell melanoids as wild, but they're all right. They're fed sometimes on feeder fish, and I think they had some pebbles in the tank, but the ones I've gotten were healthy though they had past injuries and are a bit overcrowded. Considering the other environments I've seen axolotls sold in, they're better than most. Not the greatest, but they're pretty healthy otherwise, and right in Portland.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
