Hi guys just a quick couple of questions new to axie ownership, ive got a axie thats around 12 months old and 22-25 cm in size ive been feeding her 1 bloodworm cube every second day and on the non bloodworm days ive been giving her 2-3 pellets made for axolotls by a company called aquamaster, so heres my questions.

1)Is this enough or to much her body and head are around the same width.
2)Should i vary her diet more? and if so what else comes as a frozen cubes as i enjoy hand feeding her the cubes.
3) I feed her pellets by filling a wine glass with tank water letting the pellets sink to bottom of wine glass and lowering wine glass on its side to the floor of tank axie happily goes in glass and eats pellets(also enjoys siting on top wine glass when finished for some reason. Is this method acceptable?.

Any feeding tips on food types and methods would be greatly appreciated
thanks.

Hi,

The overall food type, amount and frequency is ok but not best.

Staples include pellets, blackworms and earthworms. It is best to offer some live food if possible.

Treats like bloodworms are fine. However, frozen cubes have to be defrosted.

Your axie is a young adult and soon when it reaches full maturity, you may like to cut down feeding to about thrice a week. I normally provide 5 pellets per axie per feeding.

You might like to offer earthworms and blackworms on one day, bloodworms and pellets on another and back to livefood again for the third feeding of the week.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
