I'm worried that my earthworms may freeze to death in my minifridge. Each time I've opened the container, there have been ice crystals on the soil and I have to chip at the crust that has formed so as to get to the tasty morsels in the middle.

Though the worms don't seem to suffer from it, I do worry that they will curl up and die(no pun intended). Suggestions on keeping them alive? Breeding and composting is out as I have several roommates and a bothersome mother that's already screamed about it'll be just another snake loose in the house *rolls eyes*.

NEVER show your mom the exoctic ropefish you buy for the heck of it. EVER.

Right, turn up the fridge temp. When adjusting the fridge, note that on some fridges a lower number means a lower temp; on some it means less cooling. Maybe you are adjusting it the wrong way. Or move the worms to a different shelf where it isn't quite so cold.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
