Question: Going away for 2.5 weeks, who care the axolotls?

I am going away for 2.5 weeks. probably the heat will turn down and temperature will drop in the house. However, for these 2.5 weeks, do I need to find someone to take care of them?

I know that newts can starve for 7 weeks. Can axolotls do that same?
I need some advice on what I should do to prepare them for that 2.5 weeks.

I have three adults and three 4.5 inches young axolotls. I have been feeding the adults once per week while feeding the young ones every day and changing 10% water everyday. If I have to, I can have a relative to feed the young axolotls once every 2 or 3 days and maybe just to change some water every week.

If you don't trust your relatives axolotl care taking skills,
then I would suggest you do a really good water change before you leave
and just leave the water unchanged until you come back.
Have your relative feed them only once a week. And when you come back,
return to your regular routine. Hope this helps.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
