Hello all,

I've recently become very interested in axolotls and was overjoyed when I found somewhere that I could get a hold of these interesting critters. I've been eagerly researching them and I found axolotl.org to be an excellent website when it came to learning about how to care for them. From that, and from browsing your photo galleries, I ended up here myself.

My tank is all set up and I am now desperately waiting for my local pet shop to get axolotls in stock, and then I can officially call myself a member of your community!

You can be an official member here even without any amphibians! Doing the research first is always best, so welcome!

Welcome, Sam!
I've found this forum is a great site for resources on nearly all the amphibians / reptiles I can think of. Hope you like it here! :D

Hi Sam and welcome to the Forum!

You can also check the For Sale, Giveaway, or Trade section of the Forum to see if anyone in your area has axolotls available.

See you around,

-Eva

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
