So, I fed some raw meat to my axolotl - it had just been thawed from frozen, fresh from the freezer, all I'm wondering is if raw meat is OK to feed to them? My axolotl book I bought says yes, but then again, it also has step-by-step instructions on how to metamorphosis it - not the most trustworthy thing in the world.
So, opinions?

Sparingly as occasional treats, yes raw meat is fine. It cannot replace other essential staples like worms though.

I agree. Lean meat is a good source of protein, but has virtually no vitamins or minerals.

i was told by a vet on the coast(when my larry was unwell) that i could feed my axie fresh minced beef heart (all fat cut off) mixed with wombaroo reptile mineral/vit supplement.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
