Hey all, I'm dragonbeards. While I have no caudates (or for that matter, amphibians) yet, I hope to remedy that situation, very soon. I have a plan for a tank in mind (more on that later), and plan to get started building it once all the kinks are worked out.

I do have other pets, as seen in my signature (I hope it shows up). Pretty much a zoo here :p. I just got the crested geckos in October, and they are doing very well. Natural terrarium, though all the plants are fake. I'm hoping to renovate once I get the funds saved up to make the tank completely planted.

Anyways, that's me!

Still trying to decide that, but I do know I want a semi-aquatic salamander of some kind. Right now I'm leaning towards Dusky or Two-Lined Salamanders.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
