I'm going away for the weekend and wondering can I keep tadpoles in the tank for food, any suggestions pLease!!!!

I don't advise feeding tadpoles. They are host to a large variety of pathogens and parasites that can easily transmit to axies. As they are all amphibians, the types of diseases involved are similar if not identical. The likelihood of disease transmission is very high.

Even with feeder fish or shrimp, you would require a minimum of 30 days quarantine. As such, last minute throwing in a couple of feeder fish would not be appropriate as well.

If you are just going away for the weekend, it is ok not to feed the axies for the 2-3 days.

How old (big) are your axolotls?

Oh yeah, then they will be fine over the weekend. You should only be feeding them once, max. twice a week anyway.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
