:cool:hey guys , just joined up and still sort of figuring out how to work this forum.
I have allways been into amphibians and have had many frogs/tadpoles when i was younger but not for a number of years now...
Any way... I had a golden bell frog brought for me as a present for my 19th birthday from wetpets , Palmerston North however it was sick when it was given to me and died shortly after probably due to the fact that it drowned (purposfully) all the food i tried to feed it (Flies, Spiders Etc.).
so because it died she brought me a black axolotl Aprox 8 cm long that i named imoogi
He lived the first week in a 6 litre tank as that was all i had at that time and did not grow at all.
Since then he has been in a 35 litre tank and is now 19.5 cm as of 17th december.
And now has been moved into a 72 litre tank as of yesterday.

He seems happy enough however i dont really know enough about them to make an informed decision so im just guessing.
I have become rather intrueged by my imoogi and are now on a mission to find out all i can about theese amazing creatures.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
