Hi all, My name is Ashleigh, ashie for short.. I've owned and breed axolotls for the past 8 years.. But now due to high school, TAFE and working part time I had to down size my group to now just the one female but I'm now planning to get a few more...Just cant help myself really  I have and outdoor pond set-up I know a lot of people are against this but I've had no issues and nor have my axolotls, I found they did better outdoors then being indoors

Welcome to the forum, I would love to see some photos of your set up.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
