I was just wondering if anyone has used or heard about this chiller: NEW* Aqua Euro USA Aquarium Nano Chiller CL-85 for 12g - eBay (item 270510665259 end time Feb-03-10 15:43:01 PST)
It's not $300 like a lot of the other ones, but it's not $30 either. I was just wondering if anyone had used a chiller like this, or think it might be suitable to bring down the temperature.

Also, (if this one doesn't look good) can anyone recommend a good chiller? It would be best if it could lower the temperature up to 10*F (20 gallon tank).

Thanks for the help!

I am also curious about this chiller, especially with summer coming.

Is it a peltier chiller? From the description it sounds like one, which I would be wary of, but perhaps it works well?

I asked the seller how cold it could keep a tank and they said "at a steady 78*F". I think the more expensive ones are better for sure. Probably a $400 one would be best for axolotls.

I was about to say, $300-$400 is a cheap chiller anyway, $150 is just nuts (and makes me suspicious)
I have a Hailea chiller, which was on the cheaper scale at about $400 and has been working excellently. I keep the tank at 18*C when it's a 40* day. "Expensive" chillers will cost you upwards of $600.

Yeah that's why I had been asking. $150 is so cheap that it probably doesn't work.

Your Hailea chiller works good? It keeps it at 18* even when its 40*. I think that's what I need, especially living in Phoenix. What else did you have to buy besides the chiller to have it running?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
