Hi there
Just a quick introduction to the forum. My boyfriend and I currently have two axolotls in two seperate tanks. One female white albino named Jesusa and a male melanoid named Diablo. The plan is to eventually breed them but they both seem too young currently.
I've joined the forum because now we can manage the basics of caring for our axolotls (thanks to axolotl.org mostly) we are starting to encounter more difficult questions.

So far the information I've gained the site has been invaluable and helped us care for our pets so much better than we were before. I look forward to gaining more knowledge from all of you and eventually being able to contribute to back with information I have learned

:)

HI welcome to the site! i have just recently got a new axolotl myself he/she is a white/pink one, I like your axolotls names! :D

Welcome! Diablo is becoming such a popular name for aquatic pets!:p

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
