I have a question about cycling my tank for my axies i will be hatching. when cycling could i put my goldfish in the tank to help the cycle? or should i keep it fishless with just adding brine shrimps? i haven't started my cycle yet i will be tomorrow and i would just like to know.

fishless is always the best option. there's no point in risking the health of the goldfish when a rotting piece of food is just as effective.

Adding some live plants is helpful, with or without the fish.

Im cycling at the moment & i find that using plants affects the levels. Nitrite wasn't being formed, so, with the advice from other members, I've taken out my plants. It's just a suggestion..

ok thank you but it would be ok to use my cosmos right. they are pretty hardy i got them last winter from my aunts pond. that or could i put the filter media into the tank?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
