I found a couple of slugs in my tank today. Im cycling the tank at the moment and there isn't an axolotl in the tank. I have quite a few plants (which i took out due to problems with cycling) and discovered two TINY slugs sucking away at the glass.
I killed them, of course. But what were they? And are the harmful to fish and the like? Just in case they reappear :(

Are you refering to planaria? Unfortunately until your tank cycles all you can really do is just remove them as you see them.

Yehh, they did look like planaria. Thank you :]

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
