Hello Caudata,
My name is Kelly and I joined this forum to get information on axolotls. The more I learn about them the more fascinated I become and I'm considering adding one to my collection.
I currently keep;
1.0.0 albino pacman
2.0.0 african bullfrog aka pyxie
2.0.0 whites tree frogs
0.0.1 hermanns tortoise
0.0.1 african fat tail gecko
1.0.0 scarlet kingsnake (currently hibernating)
1.1.0 cats, domestic long hair and siamese mix
3.1.0 dogs, peke-poo, dachshund, peke, doberman
I see some familiar names here and I'm K412 on the frog forums.
I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can about these creatures before I purchase one. Perhaps someone may enlighten me on the not so wonderful aspects of maintaining them?

Welcome to the forum Kelly. Looks like you got quite a zoo starting!

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
