I have a fire belly newt in a 3 gallon tank and am just wondering if putting in a bubble wall is a good idea. I read that aeration is good for newts, but will the bubbles just upset my newt?

Thanks!

With a species like orientalis, that likes the water calm, your just better off doing water changes. Especially in a small tank like that.

A 3 gallong tank is waaaaaaaay too small for a single Cynops orientalis. For a correct housing you will need at least a 10 gallon standard tank. I agree that the bubble wall is unnecessary and would probably cause stress. You can substitute filters and areators by having lots of live plants.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
