Hi

i bought a 80cm x 30 cm tank for my axie, i set it up with water at about 1/3 and a rock i took from my running tank and a log i bought at a pet store that was in a tank already running.

i checked water parameters the first day when i set it up and it wasPH 7, ammonia 0 and nitrite 0

after 24 hrs i added 2 dried brine shrimp and 1 reptomin pellet, after another 48 hrs the shrimp have some white fuzzy stuff around and the pellet had sinked to the bottom, i checked the parameters again and still 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite!!

should i do something else?

i am also wondering if i should add plants to the tank or wait untill it's fully cycled...

thanks!

Hi

i have another question... i discovered two very small snails today in the tank, they were attached to a side, i guess they came with the log...

should i wash the log or will they get out of it and die since the tank is not yet cycled?

i am worried i wont see them all before i put the axie in it and then make a mess...

and also the log is getting some white fuzzy thing too, its not much but i can see it.. is that bad or normal while cycling?

thanks

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
