I set up my new newts tank today, i washed all new ornaments substrate etc, however on of the ornaments has offended me deeply. it mad the water cloudy, i kept the water from their old tank and mixed it with new water. i have taken out the offending ornanemt and left the filter running on max but the water does not seem to be improving, im thinking of re-shanging the water but then i would loose all the original water too? what to do?

What kind of ornament was it that could have made the water cloudy? Are newts currently in the tank or are you cycling it?

A filter with activated carbon should help to clear up cloudy water. If the filter you're using has carbon, how old is it? Perhaps it's time to change it out?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
