Hi,

I've been keeping exotic pets for many years now including many herps and invertebrates and I am now keen to have a go with salamanders and newts.

As an ecologist I get to survey for great crested newts in the field and I am interested in observing the life cycle of similar species in more detail.

I am particularly interested in Triturus marmoratus so will be keeping an eye for them in the for sale section. I have always been fond of fire salamanders too.

Caudata.org is a fantastic resource and is far superior to most of the the other specialist sites I've seen for other animal groups.

I look forward to learning more,

Cheers

Alan

Welcome to the forum!
T.marmoratus is a gorgeous species and i´m sure you won´t have any trouble finding some CB ones in the UK.
Fire salamanders are easily available too, and make brilliant captives.

Thanx for the praise to the forum, we do like it here :)

Well...yes. Both species can breed at different times of the year, mainly spring and fall, so usually there are more animals available after 3-4 months of the breeding periods.
I don´t think you´ll have any trouble finding some anyway, since both are very common in the UK and available for low prices.

The same goes for T.shanjing, although those might take a little more effort to find (some years they are abundant, other not so much).
