Hello everyone My name is Mary! I have a Greater Siren which I will post pictures of soon... I had 5 baby axolotls who got out of my net breeder.. and my $2 large goldfish ate them :( I almost cried. So I have a large almost 50 gallon tank now I'd like to make into a home for axolotls... I will be looking for some for sale and whatnot! :]

Welcome to the forum Mary. I can't wait to see pictures of your siren. Call me cherry cause I am a sucker for pictures.:D

Hey there! I'm new here too. How big is your siren? I just got one a week ago and he is approximately 18 in at this point. So sorry about your axies - don't give up! There are some for sale in the forum right now - check it out!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
