Hi, after trying a variety of different foods to my 2 axies, its clear that red wigglers seem to be their absolute favourite, second is earthworms (so long as theyre not too big) and bloodworms.

My question is, can you overfeed them? I know red worms are quite a bit smaller than the earthworms that i've found but my axies can eat 5 or 6 redworms each at a sitting, is this too much? I dont like to deprive them when they are feeding well, they are active and poo regularly (sorry if too much info there!) but i dont want to overfeed them and cause them problems either!

They are both about 7 inches long.

The rule to stick to is that their bellies are as wide as their head when looking down on them.
If they are wider than their head you could feed a little less.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
