I have 2 red spotted newts and i have had them for a couple months now and both are very healthy! I have only been feedin them meal worms though, is this okay? what are other good foods for them?

Mealworms are ok as a treat but not for a staple. Chopped earthworms are your best bet for their staple. Depending on if they are kept terrestrial or aquatic you can also feed them frozen bloodworms, live blackworms, small crickets, and pill bugs just to name a few. Here is an article on more food items you could offer.

thanks alot good sir. i have water and land in there setup

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
