I have long loved amphibians particularly White Dumpies and aquatic frogs. I have recently fallen in love with Axies and am excited to learn more about them and possibly acquiring one in the near future.

Welcome! You have definitely come to the right spot to find out everything about axolotls! I too am a frog lover - I have 2 pacmans, 1 ornate horned fantasy, 1 pyxie, and 2 barking tree frogs! Love the axolotls too! Check out the axolotl.org side and check out the forums and you should be off to a great start. There's even a For Sale section when you are ready to get started with what is sure to become a new obsession!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
