Hello there,

My name is Yvette, I'm from Hungary, I currently live in London as a forensic science student.
I have 2 wild type axolotls Frank (who was rescued from a science lab 7 years ago) and Frankie (Frank's girlfriend), and 2 goldfish, Mrs Funeral and Mr Sunshine.
Both my axis and my goldfish decided to reproduce at the same time, so I currently have 10 tanks accommodating axis, fish, daphnia, brineshrimp, snails, shrimps and blood-worms. :D It's really good fun, although as you probably all know, it can be quite exhausting.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
