I've been a long time active non member visitor to this site always rechecking the care sheets and stuff with the habitat and breeding and sexing of the axolotls and finally just decided to join yesterday night. i've had my axolotl for about two years now and i still love him =) he's a leucistic one =) last year my dad threw a koi into my tank that almost ripped him to shreds but luckily i got home in time to get rid of the killer koi >.> anyways I've been trying to do research on sirens lately since i now have a new found interest in all these neotonic herps... yeaaaaaaah. Hopefully i'll be able to find some dwarf/lesser sirens in cali.

I currently have 1 Axolotl and 7 turtles (seperate tanks of course)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
