Hi guys.

I got my Axie home yesterday and he settled well (i presume this as he didnt get the curl in his tail).
I fed him a small amount of frozen blood worm cube.
I have two questions how much blood worm cube should i feed him.... and if not bloodworm can you specify how much of what he needs to eat.
Also how often should he be fed?

He is just over around 4 inches at the moment.

Thanks for the help
Tom

hey my two are a little larger than 4 inches, if I feed bloodworm they will polish of about a cubes worth in 5minutes, sometimes I give them more and leave them for a couple hours, if I feed earthworms I give about 2-3 small, thin worms each, and if I feed pellets I just give them as much as they will eat in 5 minutes,

after a week or so you will have a very good idea how much your pet will eat, I think most people give different amounts, but the general guide is as much as they will eat in 10-15 minutes I think.

I have noticed when I have over fed they raise there back legs upwards and look very uncomfortable

Hey thanks for that advice.
I put quite a chunk of a bloodworm cube in this morning.
He set about eating it and eventually stopped with a few of the worms left.
I have heard they need to be fed daily is this true?

Cheers again Tom

yes daily feeding for now, eventually they only need feeding every 2-3 days but I am not sure at what stage this is

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
