Hi

I gave my axie a male name but if it is a female would like to give him/her a name for her/his gender.

I have uploaded a photo and near the bottom of his belly there is a grey area (black in real life as flash went of on phone) i wondered will it signify eggs or do i wait for sexual maturity?

I think hes a male.

I looked for the dark tips on his toes, and he has them.
His body is sleek and not rounded so i think i shall stick with his name he has.
I care for him anyway..... i dont care on the gender

thanks for the help
:D

Looks like he may be a little too young to sex.
You need to be careful with the stones he's on. Any smaller than the width of his head he will eat, this will cause major problems

Thats why there is a layer of big stones on top of the little ones :)

It's often a good idea to use androgynous names ;)

I can see the small ones in plain sight. Your axie will get its head down there and suck the small stones up.
Better to not use them at all.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
