I've been keeping fish for year and now I'm trying to do some research for aquatic newt. Maybe a Tylototriton verrucosus????
I couldn't much information out there on these animals. I couldn't even find one place that sell newt in my neck of the wood (Portland, Ore). Can anyone give me some pointer to a Sticky i should read first? Some "newt provider"?:dizzy:

Anyhow, nice to meet you all!:D

Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately I don't have any answers for you but your choice of species is interesting - very nice looking newts, these are. (I'm an axolotl addict, personally) You can check the FS section at the bottom of the forum index page or post a wanted ad in the Wanted section. Good luck! :D

Axolotlis very nice but I think I'll have trouble keeping the water temperature under 70F during summer. That's why I'm looking at some of the more heat-tolerant species; and I've only found one (Tylototriton verrucosus) that is relatively small and can handle a little summer heat.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
