;) Hello to you all! My name is Lindsay. I've always been interested in the unique and unusual pets. When I was young I was always interested in mudpuppies and lizards but could never keep one. Now that I've discovered Axolotls I've fallen in love! I'm trying to do all the research I can before I buy one or two. I already have a 75 gallon tank I'm going to setup and cycle for awhile. I'm so excited to finally be able to keep such an interesting pet and so happy that I found this site with all of you that I can learn from. I look forward to talking to you all and gaining some much needed knowledge.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
