Hi Steph,

You might have luck looking in the For Sale section (click here) or posting your request in the Species Sough section (here). Good luck to you!

I'm in the Nottingham area too - hi!

Whilst they are web based - I know Exotic Pets (Axolotl - Ambystoma mexicanum) are based near Chesterfield and you can arrange collection. I've never seen axolotl in a pet shop - I think that's one of the things that adds to their appeal :)

I've head friends talk about Wharf Aquatics - Tropical Marine Pond Fish Aquariums Reptiles and I keep meaning to pop in since I pass close by on my way to and from work. You could check them out too.

Hi Rob
small world i have just looked on exotic-pets and just ordered an golden albino, so thanks so much for pointing me to the site.

and i will have to pop into the wharf aquatics see if they do stuff of axolotls (my baby mels are growing so fast) has Kayes pet shop in town, look at you stupid when you ask for stuff.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
