My juvenile cfbn is at least a year and a half and is still in it's terrestrial phase although it does allow its back end to sit in the water. Can I expect it to ever become fully aquatic and join my adult newt?
I don't know so I'm the most un-useful response ever but I'm interested in hearing the response as I have an adult/older juvie that will not go in the water at any depth either.
Of course you can. One day it will go aquatic (provided that water conditions are excelent) and it will never (hopefully, and with the proper care) go on land again.
How big is it? Age is not so much an important factor as size is.
Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
