You know what. Thats a nicely colored Axolotl. How big is it? Its looking up waiting for food to fall.

It's about 13-15 cm long. And you're right, it was feeding time.

Is it alright that the gills on it are not red? Because I thought if the axolotl is white, the gills are red.

Everybody's right, he/she looks fine and that's a very interesting color pattern! Welcome and we look forward to seeing this unique fella' or gal around! Thanks for sharing! :D

Looks really nice,

nice weight and a really nice pigmentation.

Well done, you got a good one there!

I think one of the parents might of been golden because it has a golden spot below its right eye.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
