So i have persisted and got a new newt sent to me by the breeder i got the original newts from which seems to have perked up the previous newt, it seems a lot happier and they had waxworm last night whilst i was doing my water change :) am so glad, now all i have to do is get my stubborn c. orientalis to eat and it will become a joy to feed them instead of such a struggle :)

you will get there :) no stressing :)

so glad the we buggers are eating now!

Awesome :-D. I noticed my little one eating bloodworm today too. Glad to see your effort paid off. I was tempted of trying to put 1 or 2 more in with my two but didn't know if it was a good idea once they had already kind of settled in.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
