Re: Babby axolotls

Hi there, hope your babies are doing well. I see from your previous query that you did get replies from two members. Maybe you wanted someone to let you know about an easier option than hatching brine shrimp, but I think there is no other way. Once I set up my hatchery from plans I found by googling, (and once I found some great Brine Shrimp eggs) I can do feeding and water cleaning in less than ten minutes morning and night, and I have had only two die out of 61 in 9 days. So I think that brine shrimp are definitely nutritious enough for the little guys and there is no magic wand. But then, would we love them so much if they were easier to raise? Good luck.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
