Hello all,

My boyfriend and I are currently looking for a pink albino Axolotl. I know it's corny but we decided that it's time we get a pet together. :happy: We think this pet is perfect for us because it's not as high maintenance as a dog. However we do realize that keeping an Axolotl healthy requires work, but we're up to the task.

Just some quick info on us: We're both college students from UCSB. We enjoy the beach, hiking...and eating. :happy: We love each other very much and we are interested in bringing an Axolotl into a happy household.

-Eek I just found that Axolotl's are illegal in CA...I'm guessing this will be a problem.

Hello, welcome. That's a pity that axolotl are illegal in California, but there are loads of other caudates you could choose from :)

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
