A massive Hello to all on the forum!

My names Jo and I have only just found this forum this morning! :D

I live in Rochester in Kent and I work in a tattoo shop in the High Street as a receptionist, a job of which I totally love and can't get enough of, I guess it's not really work if you feel that way about your job, so that's great. I have a cool other half who works in IT and we have our first baby on the way. but most importantly down to the Phibs!

I have 2 Red spotted newts (Red and Blue) of which were CB here in the UK. (I met the breeder.)
I bought them from a reptile expo when they were teeny tiny skinny lil things in their ice cream tubs, they looked soo cute, I thought, they need to be fattened up and spoilt. So I bought them and I'm so glad I did, they have turned out to be one of the best pets I own! :p

They are both doing really well and are really friendly and inquisitive they always come out to see me whenever I go near the tank.

To tell you the truth I would really like some more of these lil guys as they have bought me soo much joy I really enjoy spoiling them rotten with new bigger and better habitats. :p

I also have a crested gecko called Jash, 2 cats called Rizzi and Styx, I have a whole bunch of giant African land snails( 2 biggies and about 100-150 lil ones) crikey they are prolific!! It's not the first batch I have had of these lil suckers either!

Well that's about all!! I'm glad I found a forum dedicated to newts and salamanders as I think they are gonna be an addiction for me

I will post up some pics of my critters and their viv's once I have figured out how to!:p

Welcome to the forums!! I hope you find all the info you require! =)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
